On Monday 23rd March we hosted two examiners from LAMDA to examine students from Year 3 to Lower Sixth. In this session we had a mixture of solos. duet and group examinations from the Introductory, Communication and Performance syllabi ranging from Solo introductory Stage 2 right up to Gold Medal in Verse and Prose.
The session gave a range of options; allowing Year 11 students complete their exam before the start of the GCSEs, gave the opportunity for those new to S&D to complete a first examination and allowed those who take both group/duet and solo examination to focus on their group/duet pieces.
The students received a fantastic 35 Distinctions and 3 (high) Merits. Miss Coulson and I are very proud of their achievement and would like to send our congratulations to all those involved.
We would like to give a special mention to Lower Sixth student Nivashini (one of our recent Speech and Drama Concert hosts) who has completed her journey receiving a mark in the nineties for her final Verse and Prose Grade 8 - Gold Medal examination. Nivashini was complimented for her “expressive understanding of both verse and prose form, realising an appreciation of differing voices in dialogue, and communicating a real sense of empathy with a writer’s intentions … controlled, poised approach, and use of appropriate vocal variety and facial expression with imagination to further support the communication process … responding to knowledge questions with evidence of detailed research, personal reflection and conviction.”
Miss Coulson (Speech and Drama Teacher) and I are looking forward to the Summer Term and the next examination session which will take place in June.
