Whole School Alumnae

On Wednesday afternoon, we were joined for a Lunchbox Lecture by Fleur Leech (BGS 2019), who now works for American investment bank, Citi, as a Treasury and Trade Solution Analyst.

Fleur began her story by expressing how much she enjoyed speaking Spanish at school and wanted to incorporate it in some way at university level, but not to study it purely. Following school she took a gap year, which was to include a period of time in Peru, but this was sadly cut short due to Covid. She then went on to read Economics and Spanish at the University of Leeds, which included a study year abroad in Mexico. During this year she attended the Universidad de Guadalajara, studying Economics in Spanish. Fleur impressed on the students that her year in Mexico was one of her best university experiences, her grasp of Spanish accelerated enormously and she had the opportunity to travel extensively within Mexico.

On Fleur’s return from Mexico she completed a successful Summer Internship at Citi and was offered a job for when she graduated. Fleur explained that she is part of a global cohort of 75 graduates, with 6 of them based in London at Canary Wharf. Her graduate training commenced with a two-week training programme in New York, followed by a rotational programme comprising four different roles, which she will finish in December 2026. Fleur is enjoying the programme enormously and continues to keep her Spanish skills up with daily chats with her Spanish colleagues.
