Ready2Lead? is a programme that provides a unique chance for Lower Sixth students across Bedford Borough to learn about leadership - both of self and others - in a really meaningful and practical way.
Aimed at students who might not have taken on leadership roles previously, or who may have leadership potential but lack a degree of self-confidence and belief, the series of conference-style sessions hosted at Bedford School provides students with lots of leadership insights, tips, ideas and challenges designed to grow their leadership capacity. There is also the small matter of a project brief that needs to be coordinated, planned, organised and completed within a tight turnaround!
The programme culminates in an evening ‘marketplace’ event, when all the groups from the participating schools will have the opportunity to showcase their projects and present their ideas and learnings to a range of local dignitaries as well as other staff and students. This year’s event will take place at Bedford School on Tuesday 9th December and I’m sure the students will enjoy the chance to celebrate their leadership journeys at this special occasion.
In their own words…
Here are some of the reasons this year’s Ready2Lead? cohort gave as to why they wanted to be part of the programme:
“I see it as a unique opportunity that can help me deepen my leadership capabilities, expand my perspective on community issues, and grow both personally and professionally…”
“… to grow my confidence working on a meaningful project which can give motivation and drive… to make new friends by working in a team and giving myself the chance to help my leadership skills.”
“...a chance to grow not only as a leader, but also as a person.”
“I am passionate about developing leadership skills that will not only help me personally but will also allow me to make a positive difference in the world.”
