New year, new term and this year’s BGS Alumnae Mentoring Programme has gone off to a flying start.
An enthusiastic new cohort of Mentors and Mentees arrived at their initial Workshop last Thursday (15th January), expertly led by experienced alumna mentors, Suzanne Tanser (née Rinaldo, BHS 1988) and Rachel Callan (née Henry, BHS 1988), setting the expectations for the working relationship for year ahead. The workshop is an integral part of the mentoring process, enabling both the Mentors and Mentees to get to know each other and to build that initial rapport that is so important for success.
Each pairing will meet each half term, with the Mentees setting their own agendas for the year ahead, working through a variety of personal aims and goals. It was so exciting to see these Lower Sixth students excited with anticipation at meeting their Mentors for the first time and knowing that they will go through so much personal growth during their journey. The BGS Alumnae Mentoring Programme is such an established opportunity for our Lower Sixth students, enabling them to experience a professional working relationship and developing their personal confidence during a critical time in their teenage lives.
All the very best to Bea, Mirna, Isabella, Kara, Poppy, Tami, Erin, Zaynab, Anaya, Lana, Molly and Amy as they embark on their journey! In addition to Suzanne and Rachel, thank you to our wonderful Mentors that are involved this year: Dr Haya Tuz-Zahra (BGS 2017), Dr Kate Lanz (BHS 1982), Kate Hudson (née Hirst, DAHS 1985), Paula Stevenson (DAHS 1989), Rachel Parsonage (née Groom, 1993), Fiyin Fayeye (BHS 2002), Cathy Miller (DAHS 1996), Caroline Evans (née Allen, DAHS 1988), Tricia Clegg (DAHS 1976) and Ros Cummings (BHS 1993)
