By Mrs Tarrant (Head of Years 7 and 9)
On Tuesday 17th September, our Year 7 students and their tutors stepped out of the classroom and into the great outdoors for the WiseUp Bushcraft Challenge at Cople Fields. The day was designed to bring the year group together, encourage teamwork, and support their transition into senior school life.
The rain mainly stayed away and the students rose to the occasion and represented BGS with pride. They took on a series of survival-themed activities, including building fires, making stretchers, and constructing shelters. Along the way, they had plenty of opportunities to talk, share experiences, and form new friendships, all while developing important life skills.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing different groups collaborating to complete their challenges. The teamwork, enthusiasm, and determination shown by the Year 7s set a brilliant tone for the year ahead.
It was a truly rewarding start to their journey at senior school, and we look forward to seeing them grow, learn, and achieve even more in the months to come.
