Rowing Season Celebrated

Whole School Rowing

By Miss Harris (Head of Rowing)

On Saturday 5th July, the Friends of BGS Boat Club (FBGSBC) hosted their highly anticipated Rowing Ball.

This annual event is always well attended and enjoyed by rowers and adults alike - with the photobooth proving to be a particular favourite once again. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the rowers to dress up and socialise with their teammates in a more relaxed setting.

Our Captain of Boats, Emily Dyall, welcomed the group, and later in the evening we were delighted to have alumna Courtnay Osborne-Walker (BGS 2015) join us as our guest speaker. Courtnay, a personal trainer passionate about supporting women and girls in sport, is the founder of Cardiocollective and joined The Body Coach Team in 2021. She is now preparing to begin a PhD in sport sociology. She spoke of her gratitude for the welcoming environment that she experienced in school rowing.

The coaching team would like to say a huge “well done” to every cox and rower for their attitude, effort and kindness throughout the season. Their constant enthusiasm, arriving with smiles for early morning sessions, and the dedication they show in balancing rowing alongside other commitments does not go unnoticed. It is truly a pleasure to work with them all. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved; they have once again raised the bar with their outstanding results this year.

As is tradition, individual awards were presented to recognise and celebrate the fantastic rowers who make up BGS rowing.
