Whole School Music

By Mrs Day (Co-Curricular and Community Outreach Manager)

On Friday 20th June, BGS welcomed pupils from several local primary schools to our first Music Orchestra Outreach Day. Young musicians from across the area came together for a full day of rehearsals, collaboration and shared enjoyment of music.

The day began with our own students warmly welcoming the visiting pupils, helping to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Everyone worked closely together throughout the day, learning from one another, forming new friendships, and building confidence as they rehearsed two specially composed pieces.

Alongside the group rehearsals, a number of students also chose to perform solo pieces. These were played either on their main instrument or a second, highlighting the range of individual talent within the group. Their performances were both inspiring and encouraging for the whole ensemble.

All the hard work led to a short concert in the school hall for proud families at the end of the day. It was a joy to see both our students and the visiting musicians come together and perform with such enthusiasm and teamwork.

A special thank you goes to Mr Page (Director of Music), who composed and arranged the pieces and led the day with energy and commitment, even in the middle of a heatwave. His support made the event possible.

The day offered a valuable opportunity to experience playing as part of a larger orchestra and helped to strengthen musical connections between schools. We look forward to welcoming more young musicians in the future and continuing to celebrate the joy of making music together.
