We run the Work The Room initiative each year for students in our Lower Sixth.
The students attend a business networking workshop, led by our Head of Careers, Mrs Whitlock, herself a professional coach, helping them develop confident social networking skills and understanding the importance of making a good first impression.
The students then had an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and practise in a reception style environment in The Hub with members of our alumnae and parent community, representing a broad range of interesting careers which included Law, Pharmacology, Veterinary Medicine, Recruitment and Sales Coaching, to name just a few.
Our Sixth Form at BGS is a truly rewarding experience for our students and Work The Room plays a big part in preparing our students for the wider world ahead. This is one of many opportunities we provide for our Sixth Formers to help develop their softer skills and interactions with others.
We are very thankful to all our volunteers from a wide range of professional backgrounds to enable the students to have a really thought-provoking session.
If you would be interested in helping with any of our career inspired events in the future, please contact Emma MacKenzie in The Alumnae Office by email, [email protected].
