Senior School Speech and Drama

By Ms Smith (Speech and Drama Coordinator)

On Friday 21 March, we held a small LAMDA examination session to give students who have individual or duet lessons the option to take an additional exam. This also allowed our Year 11 students the opportunity to complete their examination before the onset of GCSEs and provided a chance to take part in a Group Examination.

In this session, the majority of students were taking their first exam. Year 3 and Year 4 students enjoyed sharing a poem and discussing a favourite book or trying out Public Speaking. Acting and Public Speaking were popular choices with Year 5, while one of our Year 6 groups brought to life the court scene from Alice in Wonderland, and a Year 6 duet explored two different interpretations of the Cinderella story.

Our Year 11 students began preparing for their Silver Verse and Prose examinations at the end of the 2024 Summer Term, and we are pleased that their effort in a demanding academic year has been recognised with strong Distinction marks and the maximum number of UCAS points.

All students received Distinctions for their preparation and performances. We are proud of them all for taking on new challenges, whether this was a first exam, a new discipline or the addition of a sonnet.
