On blustery and windy Wednesday morning, our cross-country team took the trails of the North Bedfordshire District Cross Country Championships at Sharnbrook Upper School.  

This year the #DamsonArmy were out in force winning 19 places to represent the district at the County Championships. This was more than any other school (including the co-ed schools). The BGS girls posted very impressive individual results with 15 top ten finishes with an outright win for Maddie Axford (Year 10) in the Inter (Year 10-11) race. If this was not impressive enough BGS had also showed strength in depth in the team events. For a school who prides themselves on their team representation this was evident in the team placings with BGS winning the Year 6 and 7 girls, Inter girls and senior girls and second in the junior girls’ races. Each race was awash with the #DamsonArmy shirts coming in one after the other.

The cross country team provides a true reflection of all the BGS sports coming together to form a super team for the run. The pre-race nervous chatter showed the girls different experiences prior to the race from the girls who specialise in Lacrosse, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Triathlon to name a few.  It was a special day to be part of the team.
