On Thursday 10th November 2025, the Sixth Form Citizenship Teams delivered sessions to the Year 9 cohort at Bedford School.
These talks provide an important platform for students from both schools to collaborate, discuss, educate and take action on significant social issues affecting young people today.
Grace Byrne Lawrence (Lower Sixth) reflected on the session: “The main focus was to raise awareness of sexual assault and promote the understanding of consent and respectful behaviour. The event started with an introduction assembly and then the year group split off into breakout rooms. The Year 9 Students participated in discussions and activities designed to encourage reflection and thoughtful consideration of these important topics. The session provided a safe place for the boys to ask questions to the Sixth Formers and explore difficult subjects in a supportive environment.
“The level of engagement and maturity demonstrated by the students was impressive. The morning allowed the Year 9 boys to develop both awareness and practical skills, and it highlighted the importance of open dialogue on personal safety and respectful relationships. It was inspiring to witness the students’ willingness to engage in such meaningful discussions, and the session reaffirmed the value of the Citizenship group’s work, led by the Sixth Formers as a collaborative team.”
