The Bridge Careers Service

By Mrs Whitlock (Head of The Bridge Careers Service)

This year's Upper Sixth have made an outstanding start to 2026. We are delighted to share that 100% of our Oxford candidates who were interviewed have received offers to study a range of subjects, including Law, Experimental Psychology and Law with German Law. Thanks to the guidance of Mrs Yeomans (Oxbridge Coordinator), our students have shown focus and resilience in reaching this impressive milestone.

Alongside this, our students have submitted UCAS applications to an incredibly broad range of subjects, many are keeping their options open by also pursuing additional opportunities, such as degree apprenticeships and studying abroad, with two students already receiving offers to study in the USA.

With the wealth of possibilities available to young people as they complete their formal education, we are very proud of all our students and the way they have been imaginative in their exploration of choices, bold in their decision-making, and reflective in making plans A, B, and C!

As A level and IB students return to school from their mock exam leave, we look forward to working with them over their final months at BGS. Over 80% of students have received at least one university offer, and we look forward to seeing more being made over the coming weeks. Our Upper Sixth will continue to be supported as they weigh up their firm and insurance choices for degrees including Neuroscience, Architecture, Film and Creative Writing, Fine Art, Veterinary Science, Mathematics, Politics and Philosophy, Computer Science, Modern Languages with International Relations, Motorsport Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry, Marketing, Costume for Performance, Astrophysics, Fashion Design, Economics, and Fine Art, to name just a few! There will also be specific guidance on applying to student finance, and preparing to live away from home.

Our Lower Sixth students will also soon be starting their own university application journeys with the Higher Education afternoon and evening next month. Preparation in Lower Sixth underpins well-informed choices in Upper Sixth: as ever, we will follow the progress of all our Sixth Form students with great interest, and wish them every success whichever direction they take.
