Junior School Netball

Miss Huckle (Head of Netball)

In recent weeks, our Junior School netballers have produced fantastic performances in the U11 Regional IAPS qualifiers and county tournament.

On Wednesday 26th February, a team of 10 U11 netballers travelled to Rugby to participate in the U11 IAPS regional qualifiers. They played four games in their pool, winning three and losing one. This meant the girls were placed second in their pool and progressed to the quarter finals against MK Prep. It was a very competitive game, but BGS eventually shone through winning 9-4. The semi final was played against Ashfold School who put out a strong performance but BGS won 6-4. An extremely excited U11 team stepped out in to the final against Spratton Hall. At half time, the score was tied 2-2. Spratton Hall had a strong second half, winning 6-3. BGS were awarded a commendable second place. They will play in the U11 National IAPS finals on Friday 20th March in Bryanston, Dorset.

The following week, BGS entered U11A and B teams in to the U11 county tournament. The U11A team played in the cup competition and the U11B team in the plate competition. The U11Bs played four pool matches, winning three out of four of their. They then faced Woodlands School in the final, where the girls competed valiantly but could not convert any shots to goals and lost 0-5. The U11As won their three games in the pool matches. In the semi final they triumphed 11-0 against Robert Bloomfield Academy. BGS then faced Bedford Modern School in the final. After a difficult first half from both teams, BGS dug deep and won the game 4-2 to be crowned the U11 county champions!
