Junior School Alumnae

By Mrs Schofield (Head of Year 4)

Year 4 are coming to the end of their Unit of Inquiry looking at Energy and the ways it can be converted and transformed to support human progress.

This has further opened the girls' eyes to the issues of sustainability and ways to reduce our energy consumption. On Tuesday morning, we were thrilled to welcome Dame Alice High School alumna, Dr Jane Morrison (2006), via Google Meet to talk to the girls about her career in STEM, and more specifically her work for the Energy Saving Trust. Dr Morrison explained how important it is to reduce our carbon footprint, and switch to renewable energy sources.

The girls were so inspired by Dr Morrison's action regarding this issue, that they began writing their persuasive letters to Mrs Gibson, regarding the school's future energy plan. This kind of action is just what we aspire to when teaching via the PYP framework, and we are so proud of the girls and their passion to be part of a cleaner future. I am sure some of our Year 4 girls will be the change makers of the future!
