Mrs Martin (Head of Year 3)

Bold, Imaginative and Reflective were three attributes put to very good use when our intrepid Year 3s spent three days at Bradwell Residential Centre last week.

After a minor breakdown, rapid assistance from the Police and an exhilarating ride in a Police car, we set off to the Centre in Essex.

We enjoyed the high ropes and archery on arrival and were guided throughout our stay by excellent members of staff. After the initial activities, the girls were given their room allocation and set off to work as a team to deliver bags to their dormitories, make beds and get themselves ready for tea.

Our first feast, by the sea, was Fish and Chips, followed by chocolate cake which the girls demolished after their busy day. It was fabulous to watch their independence develop as they served themselves drinks, collected cutlery and cleared away their own dishes!

After a long day, we settled down for a movie and some sweets. It was a great first day!

A dawn awakening on Tuesday meant our day started very early and we enjoyed a relaxed morning before going down for a cooked breakfast. It was a beautiful sunny day and the girls came prepared for their activities slathered in sunscreen!

As we all sat outside that evening eating our BBQ as the sun set, it was a perfect time to reflect on what we had enjoyed so far and what we were looking forward to the next morning. There were a mixture of activities over the next two days for the four groups including Crabbing, Rafting, Beach Bingo, Power Kiting and Bush craft.

It was the most wonderful time, which we had all been looking forward to for a long time. The girls should be extremely proud of themselves; they enjoyed trying all of the activities and we were impressed with how determined each of the girls were to push themselves.
