World Read Aloud Day

Junior School

On Wednesday morning, girls across the Junior School were excited to take part in World Read Aloud Day. They bought their favourite book into school, shared extracts and talked about their love of reading.

World Read Aloud Day was founded by LitWorld in 2010 as an opportunity for people around the globe to celebrate the joy of reading aloud. It has evolved into a global movement of readers, writers and listeners from communities all across the world coming together to honour the joy and power of reading and sharing stories.

Mrs Woodhouse, Head of English in the Junior School Year 6 teacher, said: “Sharing stories often begins with reading aloud. Reading aloud provides a number of opportunities and benefits for children of all ages, from strengthening their vocabulary to increasing their attention span.”
