Whole School Music

By Mrs Jones (Music Teacher)

On Saturday, 13th January, GCSE and A-level students were treated to a wonderful performance of John Williams' music by Anne-Sophie Mutter and the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall. The beautifully curated music celebrated the solo violinist with arrangements crafted specifically for Anne-Sophie Mutter by 'the master,' John Williams.

It was a genuine privilege to witness a live performance of such exceptional quality and to be part of the sold-out audience thrilled to see a world-renowned violinist and orchestra performing together. The experience proved to be incredibly inspiring for all our students. As Polly Taylor (Lower Sixth) expressed: “Anne-Sophie Mutter had a great stage presence and played so beautifully.”

As a violinist myself I loved watching her technique and seeing how she interacted with both the audience and the orchestral players. Lauren Blower (Lower Sixth), also studying A Level Music said: "The concert hall was lovely and the atmosphere was one of excitement. It was exhilarating to see such a fantastic musician playing solo with the orchestra, who were amazing!"
