By Miss Duckworth (Admissions and Marketing Assistant)

On Monday lunchtime we welcomed back former student Katherine Taylor, as part of our Lunch Box Lecture series.

Katherine left BGS after finishing her GCSEs, only last summer (2023), to start her role as a Project Controls Apprentice at MBDA, the UK’s leading defence company.

She spoke to some of our students about her role as an apprentice, giving them an idea of her day to day life, what the application and interview process entails, what you should be looking for in a company/role and the benefits of apprenticeships. The students who attended found it very useful, asking for advice on what they thought makes you stand out during a competitive interview process. Katherine also spoke about other aspects of her role which includes presenting at events, often at incredibly big venues such as the NEC in Birmingham.

Her passion for her work shone through and it was incredibly inspiring to hear about her journey since leaving school less than a year ago.

It takes a lot of confidence and courage to come back into school and deliver a talk to your peers, so we would like to extend a huge thank you to Katherine and we hope to invite her back in the future!
