By Miss Bream (Dance Teacher and Coordinator of Co-Curricular Dance)

On the evening of Friday 29th September, our Lower and Upper Sixth dancers thoroughly enjoyed an inspirational performance of The Ailey2 Dance Company at The Theatre Milton Keynes. The performers in Ailey 2 include younger dancers than those of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre company which is based in New York.

The performers presented three works The Hunt, Enemy in the Figure and as excerpt from Ailey’s masterpiece work Revelations. His stunning choreography explores and depicts a plethora of diverse themes and rich cultural influences. Our students were in awe of his talented, athletic, highly skilled dancers who pirouetted faster and spun more turns than I’ve seen before while demonstrating strength, flexibility, extension and balance beyond belief. The choreography is beautifully and cleverly connected with the music to create a truly immersive, intensive atmosphere.

It was a joy to watch these performances with our mature, talented Sixth Form dancers who are now maybe inspired and determined to extend their own talents even further.
