Senior School Netball

By Miss Bentley (PE Teacher)

On Friday 22nd September, 20 students from Years 7 and 8 left BGS to attend the GSA Masterclass Juniors Netball Tournament. We travelled to Condover Hall, where the students were immediately immersed in the Gladiator Wall activity, scaling heights and eventually climbing over the top and back down.

On Saturday, we headed to Shrewsbury Sports Village to participate in a round-robin tournament, which would determine our competition for the following day. The B team faced a challenging draw, playing against several A teams, but they showed fantastic resilience and always wore smiles. As a result, they were placed into the Plate competition for Sunday. The A team secured victory in six out of their nine games, earning them a spot in the Trophy competition on Sunday.

During Saturday evening, the students had some free time to engage in activities such as tunnelling, laser tag, high ropes, and many more.

Sunday brought some unpredictable weather, so matches were shortened to five minutes each way to ensure that all competitions could be completed. The A team initially struggled to find their rhythm in the first couple of games, playing against the eventual winners of the competition. However, after a challenging start, they found their stride and ended the day with three wins, placing them 7th overall after a highly competitive match against Tormead School.

The B team continued to excel in their tournament, with their only defeat coming from Headington High School. They ultimately secured a third-place finish. Congratulations to everyone!
