Whole School Netball

Miss Bentley (PE Teacher) and Mrs Norman (Netball Coach)

The Year 8 A and B netball teams set off to Condover Hall (23rd – 25th September) extremely excited with the prospect of lots of activities to participate in, as well as their first netball tournament of the season. On our arrival, the students were able to opt for outdoor activities such as the high ropes, abseiling, the zip wire and climbing. I have to say – the high ropes were incredibly high! Well done everyone.

On Saturday, we travelled to Shrewsbury Sports Village. The A team started brightly enough but it was soon clear that we were in a very strong group and came away with three wins, one draw and four losses, which took us into the Cup competition on Sunday. The B team also had fierce competition and still managed to win a game in their round robin tournament, which meant that they played in the Plate competition on Sunday.

The B team started their day strongly, moving the ball around the court fluidly and the goals kept coming. They won all but one of their games in another round robin tournament demonstrating how much they had improved over the course of the weekend. Their hard work paid off and they finished as well-deserved Runners Up of the Plate competition. Fantastic netball from the whole squad.

The A team had a trickier morning, unfortunately losing all of their group games and eventually placing 7th out of 10 teams after winning their last game 8-7. This team showed a lot of potential with some superb play, particularly when moving the ball down the court. Keep up the good work!
