Sixth Form IB

By Mrs Lugsden (Head of Art and Textiles)

On Wednesday evening, we were thrilled to welcome visitors to the Art Department, joining us to celebrate the fantastic achievement of our Upper Sixth IB Visual Art students, Manal Husain and Charlotte Muzzlewhite.

Curating an exhibition is a requirement of the IB Visual Arts programme, but it also presents an opportunity to celebrate the ambitious, intriguing, and skilled work that the students have created over the past months.

The show explored many themes, such as family, identity, and the natural and urban environment. Outcomes varied from textiles screen-printed and embellished hangings to graffiti stencil canvas works, digitally edited photographs to sculptural installation. This range of responses is testament to the open-minded attitude held by our IB students, who have been willing to try new techniques and explore a variety of avenues to refine their creative understanding. It was a delight to share this experience with a wide audience.

The exhibition was made possible by the hard work and dedication of the talented Upper Sixth students. These students worked tirelessly right up to the very last minute to put together an exceptional show.
