We would like to wish the following members of our inspirational BGS community all the very best of luck as they continue to run in these cold days in preparation for various marathons. We are very proud of you all!

A shout-out to following staff and alumnae who will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 21st April 2024.

Mrs Smart (Physics Teacher) will be running the 26.2 miles across the capital in support of global children’s charity Plan International, she said: “I am running for this charity because I believe in their values and mission to provide free, inclusive, quality education in over 80 countries across the world, particularly for girls.”

Mrs O’Rourke (Dance Teacher) will be running the London Marathon in support of the MS Society, she said: “I've seen first-hand the amazing advances in medicines and technology, to support those suffering with MS, over the last few decades but they need help to keep funding these research projects.”

A charity which is very close to her heart, Mrs Tombs said: “After losing my husband to Sepsis I am on a mission to raise awareness and vital funds for The UK Sepsis Trust, everyone should be Sepsis Savvy. As a non-runner this is quite the challenge.”

Mr Gibson (Learning Support Teacher) will be running the Bedford Half Marathon later this month. He will also be continuing his fundraising for Action Medical Research for Children, participating in the Race the Sun event in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) National Park in April.

Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6) continues to ramp up the miles, this time in an epic 24-hour team endurance race that starts at 12 noon on Saturday and finishes at 12 noon on Sunday.
