By Mrs Woodhouse (Year 5 Teacher)
We are thrilled to share an exciting project that Year 5 students have embarked upon: creating their very own podcast! As part of a recent workshop, run by former BBC senior learning producer Jo Hall, Year 5 had the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of podcasting, immersing themselves in various roles such as interviewers, Vox Pop contributors, quizzers, and presenters. Since then, they have been collaborating, communicating, and delving into the technical aspects of putting together an engaging and thought-provoking podcast.
One of the most valuable skills the girls will be honing throughout this project is collaboration. Working together in teams, they will learn the importance of actively listening to one another's ideas, respecting differing perspectives and will be combining their strengths to create a coherent and captivating podcast episode.
Through this podcasting project, Year 5 students will be gaining an array of valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom. They are learning to collaborate effectively, communicate their ideas, and harness the power of technology. Moreover, they are building their confidence, as they step into the role of creators and share their unique perspectives with the audience.
