Kiera Footman (Year 9)

On Thursday, Year 9 had a day off timetable dedicated to our personal project. This project can be about anything we want, and all of the projects are to be presented on Monday 8th July.

Based in the Assembly Hall, we were educated about how to make smart choices when researching various ideas. During the session, we had to answer a series of questions. For example, ‘what subjects would we like to study which we currently do not in school?’, and ‘what would you like to be able to do in the future?’

The final period of the day involved finding out what topic we would like to base our project on. We had to come up with a title and a question which summarised our project. I chose healthy living because my knowledge is limited in this area. Research areas from other students include fashion, the environment, crime and murder. The Year 9 students came out of the day with an idea of what they were going to do and had already started their research.

Laura Ellis, adds: “The project provided an opportunity for us to be creative, as we were open to research any area we have a passion for. Being a singer, I decided to base my project on one of my songs that I had created. In addition, I will draw many pieces of artwork in relation to the song, reflecting the emotion that the song inflicts.”

Mrs Cruse adds: “It was exciting to see the breadth and depth of the Year 9 interests. I encourage as many of their parents who can make it to come and see the fruits of their labours at the Exhibition Evening Monday 8th July, 4:15 – 5:15pm.”
