Junior School

By Mrs Inkson (Head of Year 6)

One of the many exciting aspects of Year 6 is the opportunity to begin experiencing lessons in the Senior School. As part of this transition year, the girls have been enjoying a range of subjects taught by specialist teachers, including Science, Design Technology, Food and Nutrition, Textiles, French and Classics.

These lessons have given the girls the chance to meet new teachers, work in specialist classrooms and explore areas of the Senior School that many had not visited before. The experience of moving around a larger school environment and adapting to different teaching styles has been an important step in developing their independence and confidence.

The girls have embraced the challenge of learning new subjects with great enthusiasm and have approached each lesson with curiosity and a positive attitude. It has been wonderful to see them asking thoughtful questions, persevering when tasks become more demanding and taking pride in their achievements.

These experiences provide valuable preparation for the move to Senior School next year. Becoming familiar with the staff, classrooms and expectations helps to make the transition feel more natural, while also encouraging the girls to develop resilience, organisation and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. We are delighted by the mature and enthusiastic way Year 6 have approached these opportunities and look forward to seeing their confidence continue to grow throughout the year.
