Ms Smith (Head of Speech & Drama)
There were celebrations in the Speech and Drama department at the start of this term as the latest LAMDA examination results were received. Following three days of examinations from Wednesday 24th, Thursday 25th and Monday 29th June, students from Year 3 through to the Lower Sixth achieved excellent results. In total, 91 students were awarded Distinctions, while 16 students received Merits.
LAMDA examinations give students more than just results. They encourage confidence, creativity and communication, skills that extend well beyond the stage. Whether interpreting poetry, delivering a speech or performing a monologue, students are developing self-expression, resilience and poise. With higher-level grades contributing to UCAS points, LAMDA also supports academic progression, making it a valuable part of their education.
This excellent set of results is a testament to Miss Coulson’s (Speech & Drama Teacher) skill and dedication. Teaching 44 of the students, she ensured a seamless transition for those moving from their previous teacher, created a nurturing and supportive learning environment, and maintained consistently high standards that enabled every learner to thrive.
Both Miss Coulson and I would like to take the opportunity to wish all those students for whom this examination represented the completion of their Speech & Drama Journey every success for their future.
