Senior School Trips and Excursions

By Miss Sadler (Science Teacher)

In August, 56 enthusiastic Year 7 students headed off for an action‑packed watersports and activity week in Wareham, Dorset.

Warm, sunny weather dominated the trip, making sun cream, plenty of water, and regular dips in the lake absolute essentials. The conditions created an ideal backdrop for a fantastic week in which every student embraced a wide range of activities, from paddleboarding and tomahawk throwing to abseiling, with real energy and determination.

Midweek brought one of the standout moments: a visit to a water park followed by a mud run. This quickly became a favourite, especially when some staff joined in, much to the students’ amusement.

Evenings were just as enjoyable, offering a chance to unwind after busy days. Students took part in group games, relaxed with friends, and reflected on their achievements. Staff were impressed by how supportive and enthusiastic the students remained throughout the week, embracing every opportunity with positivity.

The final day took the group to Rockley Point for a full day of sailing. Students learned to take charge of picos (two‑person boats) and also experienced the excitement of larger sailing boats sailed by the instructors. They listened carefully, applied their new skills brilliantly, and even managed a few entertaining capsizes along the way.

By the end of the week, many were eager to get back out on the water, rounding off what was truly an unforgettable experience. By the time the coach rolled back into school, the group returned not only with new skills but with stories, friendships, and memories that they will remember.
