Senior School Music

Mrs Parsons (Deputy Director of Music)

On Monday evening, the Senior School held its Summer Concert. The evening saw an impressive array of student performances, from solos, to chamber groups and larger ensembles. It was wonderful to see students from all age groups performing a range solos, with particularly memorable performances from our three Upper Sixth leavers, Isobel Stearn, Emily Baker and Katie Sharrock. Isobel gave a stunning rendition of the final movement of the virtuosic Bruch Violin Concerto, Emily moved the audience with an emotional interpretation of Burn, from Hamilton, and Katie gave an impressive performance of Mozart’s Queen of the Night. It was also superb to see Isobel and Katie conducting ensembles in this concert.

Ensembles included two string quartets, First Orchestra, Second Orchestra, Flute Choir, Senior Wind Band, Senior Guitar Group, Bel Canto and New Choir. It was fantastic to see such a large number of girls participating on the evening, having advantage of the wide array of co-curricular opportunities in Music.

The girls have put so much effort in throughout the term to make Monday’s performance the undoubtable success that it was. Their dedication, resilience and talent have paid dividends.
