We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. 

In this statement, "we" means Bedford Girls’ School.  We are part of The Harpur Trust (The "Trust"), Princeton Court, Pilgrim Centre, Brickhill Drive, Bedford, England MK41 7PZ.  [Bedford School, Bedford Girls' School, Bedford Modern School and Pilgrims School] are also part of The Harpur Trust. 

This statement sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, through www.bedfordgirlsschool.co.uk (our site) will be processed by us.  Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.

For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act), The Trust and the schools are the same data controller.  Further details of the personal data we hold, and how we use it, can be found on the Information Commissioner's website at www.ico.gov.uk under registration number Z1670129.  Further information about data protection is available there.

Information we may collect from you

We may collect and process the following data about you:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our site;

  • If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence;

  • Details of your visits to our site including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data.

  • Within the password protected secure areas: Parents’ portal, Studywiz for pupils, Eyrie and Webmail for staff we do not collect any data about you.

  • Within our alumnae area you have the opportunity to update your personal details on The Guild Reunited database. Where you choose to update your personal details this information is securely stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act).

IP addresses

We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration.  This is statistical data about our users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.

Cookies

We may use cookies (small text files which we [and other website operators] store on your computer when you visit our site) to deliver a better and more personalised interaction.  They enable us to recognise you when you return to our site, store information about your preferences, and improve the way your searches are processed. They also enable us to generate statistics about the number of visitors we have and how they use this website and the internet.

The Alumnae

Part of our site is provided by the Alumnae. The Alumnae homepage can be found here: http://community.bedfordgirlsschool.co.uk/.

In the secure members areas on the Alumnae webpages, members can upload details to their personal and professional profiles, book and pay for events and donate via debit/credit cards or direct debits. The information we collect to update the profiles, to take bookings and payment for donations and events is provided by the user.

The Alumnae uses online software called Blackbaud NetCommunity to help The Alumnae to manage information about individuals in connection with marketing and fundraising activities. Blackbaud NetCommunity and the Alumnae use cookies to improve services offered to Alumnae members (for example, by monitoring which webpages are better received and to remember individuals' preferences next time they use Blackbaud NetCommunity).
