The International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) has a very clear mission to create a better world through education.

At Bedford Girls’ School we share this sense of purpose and believe that the philosophy of the IB best matches our aspirations for our students to be the creative-thinkers, the change makers and the problem solvers of the future.

This philosophy runs through our entire approach to education and we are proud to be accredited to offer the IB Primary Years Programme in our Junior School and the IB Diploma Programme in our Sixth Form.

The International Baccalaureate is not simply a set of alternative qualifications. It is an ethos about the type of society we might hope for in the future and how we can deliver this through a different approach to teaching and learning. It is centered on the development of the whole student – physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically with a mission to encourage young people to go out and make a difference to the world around them.  The focus is firmly on the development of the 10 learner attributes; rather than just amassing information and processes.

Established in 1968 the IB have been refining their forward thinking pedagogical approach to education for over 50 years;  an international not-for-profit organisation it is free from a single government influence and purely focused on shaping the next generation of educators and students through its rigorous and challenging programmes.

We are proud to be one of a network of over 5,000 schools, in 159 countries, offering the International Baccalaureate; providing collaboration and partnerships from around the globe.
